posted Mar 7, 2021, 4:27 PM
The Skate Canada PEI Section is proud to announce Rachael Emge as the new Executive Director for our non-profit organization, effective April 19, 2021. Rachael will be responsible for guiding the Board of Directors strategic initiatives, and implementing island-wide competitions, programs and services for the sport across the province. Skate Canada PEI has over 1600 members annually amongst the 9 clubs and 1 skating school on the island.
Rachael grew up in Kensington PEI and represented the province at two Canada Winter Games (2003 & 2007) in the sport of figure skating. For the past 10 years, she has been a dedicated Disney on Ice Principle Performer travelling to over 25 countries and understudied countless roles. In 2019, Rachael became a Media Mentor while on tour and was involved in the PR requirements to organize and personally participate in live TV interviews, radio interviews, print advertising, and not-for-profit campaigns. Although the COVID-19 pandemic ended her regular routine abruptly, she endeavoured to take her passion for the sport further, and turned to coaching. She enthusiastically took the CanSkate course and became fully certified seven months later. Rachael now has her sights set on completing her Regional Coach certification. Her enthusiasm and love for the sport is contagious! Rachael’s experience as a competitive skater and as a coach will bring an instrumental perspective to her role as the Executive Director. Off the ice Rachael enjoys fitness, gardening, cooking & baking.
We thank Kristen MacDonald for her three years of dedication to the Executive Director role. She forged ahead with many creative initiatives and guided the organization through the unprecedent season with the COVID-19 pandemic. We wish her all the best in her new job. Kristen will still be involved in the sport as a coach and supporting our organization through the succession planning phase for the ED role.
