2026–2027 National Qualifying Events & Entry Planning
Introduction
Skate Canada PEI is collecting preliminary information from clubs and coaches regarding potential PEI participation in the 2026–2027 national qualifying events.
Skate Canada uses projected Section entry numbers to support event and competition schedule planning.
Clubs and coaches are asked to complete the Skate PEI National Event Entry Planning Survey for potential entries in:
- Pre-Novice and Novice Singles
- Pre-Novice and Novice Pairs
- Pre-Novice and Novice Ice Dance
- Novice, Junior and Senior Solo Ice Dance
- Novice, Gold and Open Synchronized Skating
We are also collecting information about possible multi-disciplinary/double entries.

- does not register a skater or team for an event;
- does not commit a skater or team to participate;
- does not determine eligibility or qualification; and
- may be updated as the season progresses.
Skate PEI will confirm final entry numbers before the applicable Skate Canada deadlines.

The Skate Canada Challenge includes Junior and Senior Women, Men, Pairs and Ice Dance and serves as the qualifying event for the Canadian National Skating Championships.

The 2027 Skate Canada Trophy includes:
- Pre-Novice Women and Men
- Pre-Novice Pair
- Pre-Novice Ice Dance
- Novice Women and Men
- Novice Pair
- Novice Ice Dance
- Novice Solo Ice Dance
- Junior Solo Ice Dance
- Senior Solo Ice Dance
Solo Dance has been added to the Trophy program for the 2026–2027 season.

Skate Canada Cup

The Skate Canada Cup is the national championship event for:
- Novice Synchronized Skating
- Gold Synchronized Skating
- Open Synchronized Skating
Qualifying Minimum Scores
The Qualifying Minimum Score (QMS) is the benchmark Technical Element Score from the free program that must be achieved to enter the applicable Skate Canada Challenge or Skate Canada Trophy event.
The QMS consists of TES only and does not include bonuses or deductions.

The score must be achieved between July 1, 2026 and the Skate Canada Trophy entry deadline.

For Junior and Senior, the QMS must be achieved between July 1 of the preceding season and the Skate Canada Challenge entry deadline.
QMS Exception
If a Section has no entries in a category that have achieved the QMS, the QMS requirement may be waived for one Section entry in that category.
For Senior, an athlete using this exception must still achieve the applicable QMS before or at Skate Canada Challenge to be eligible to advance to the Canadian National Skating Championships.
