Step 1: Successfully complete two Provincial Coach Pre-Course eLearning Modules in the disciplines of your choice as well as the Cross-Discipline Module prior to attending the discipline-specific virtual and in-person courses.

Provincial Coach Course Information
The Provincial Coach courses are scheduled and delivered by each Section individually. The frequency of courses is offered by demand - please contact skatecanadapei@gmail.com .

Trained Status
Provincial Coaches will earn a Trained status once they have completed the pre-course eLearning modules, the Discipline Specific Virtual Courses and the in-person Cross-Discipline Foundational Training Course coach course, and have completed these multi-sport courses:
- Performance Planning (multi-sport course)
- Making Ethical Decisions (multi-sport course – completed at CanSkate)
- Teaching and Learning (multi-sport course- completed at CanSkate)
- Planning a Practice (multi-sport course- completed at Regional)

Certified Status
- Must be a registered Skate Canada coach in good standing
The Provincial Coach Certified Evaluation Portfolio provides a platform for coaches to show their ability to coach Train to Train figure skaters. Coaches are encouraged to gain some experience coaching or mentor with another coach prior to submitting this portfolio. Prior to enrolling in the portfolio, coaches are required to have athletes at the Pre-Novice/Novice level for Singles, Pairs and Dance. For Synchronized skating, teams must be at Novice, Gold or Open. To assist with coach development, the portfolio consists of the following components:
- Coach philosophy
- Coaching goals
- A skater’s or team’s yearly plan
- Two lessons (Foundational skating lesson and a technical lesson)
- The technical lesson must include one of the elements identified in the discipline of choice:
- Singles: Double Axel or triple jump of choice
- Pairs: Group 3, 4 or 5 lift or twist
- Dance: Dance spin or lift
- Synchro: Pivoting block or intersection
- The technical lesson must include one of the elements identified in the discipline of choice:
- Training session observation
- Submission of the pre-course workbooks
- Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation
Becoming a Certified Provincial Coach
- When ready to complete the certification process, Coaches must enroll in Provincial Coach Certified Evaluation Portfolio through the eLearning site.
- You will be prompted to pay a $255 evaluation fee prior to entry. Please note, this fee is non-refundable. Coaches should enroll in this course only when they are prepared to finish the portfolio in a timely manner.
Upon enrollment, the following events will take place:
- The coach will be assigned a coach evaluator by Skate Canada
- The coach evaluator will set up a time with the coach to review the portfolio (pre-brief conversation)
- The coach will complete the portfolio requirements and notify the evaluator
- Ensure portfolio is in fillable Portfolio Template
- Submit for marking
- The coach evaluator will review the portfolio
- Please allow four weeks for marking
- The coach evaluator will schedule a time with the coach to review the portfolio as well as create an action plan (debrief). The action plan may include additional professional development activities such as eLearning, resubmission of lessons,
